Discrete Circuits with Jesse You

But nowadays cause rap pays
You got a million rappers and a thousand DJs
— Da Bush Babees- We Run Things

This lyric from Da Bush Babees' song has been realized with the advent of the booming hip hop scene around the world and the nebulous genre of electronic music.  DJ's can easily look at the weekly top charts at Beatport or Traxsource and can make a tracklist in a matter of minutes, but there are people who enjoy digging.  Digging is the urban equivalent of spelunking, where we try to find the rarest piece of album or music, ranging from obscure one-hit wonder musicians from the 70's to the rarest limited edition presses.

Jesse You, a DJ/Record Collector/Taste Maker hailing from the tiny peninsula of Korea has teamed up with Condesa, the company behind beautiful rotary mixers that has regained popularity among crate diggers and DJ's, to make an hour-long mix of smooth summer vibe tunes.  The mix floats on feathery chords, echoey snares, and memories of the 80's, making you feel like you're in the driver seat of a Ferrari F40 driving down neon-filled streets of Miami.  The mix borders on vapor wave with its 80's synth and drum machines but brings you back to grooviness with R&B peppered in.  The highlight of this mix for me is around the 40-minute mark when the music transitions into synth-y strings and dreamy talk box vocals.  Luckily, he provided the track or else I'd be upset for a few days unable to find the song.

If you're planning to go to the beach, bring your portable speaker, some drinks, and some potato chips, and turn this mix to get your last bit of summer sun.
